Iliana is the lead instructor at AgileColor, specializing in scientific artwork and infographic design. She offers a range of courses for PhD students, postdocs, and employees across the Netherlands and Europe. As the demand for designing and laying out scientific work—including thesis books and posters—grows, Iliana’s courses help participants develop the skills to create polished, professional designs. She begins with the basics, guiding students through Adobe Illustrator and InDesign while introducing scientific design principles. With the increasing need for effective infographics, AgileColor also offers specialized workshops on infographic design principles. Iliana has been an Adobe Certified Instructor and a certified teacher in the Netherlands since 2019. Her courses are offered through several universities and institutes, including Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University, Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam MC), Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM), and The Advanced Research Center Chemical Building Blocks Consortium (ARC CBBC). There are two online courses available and several tailored workshops. One course focuses on Adobe Illustrator and infographic design with 5-hour sessions over 4 weeks, and the other is dedicated to InDesign and layout design principles with 4-hour sessions over 4 weeks. Both options provide personalized feedback, with Iliana offering one-on-one guidance to help students apply design principles to their projects. Participants also benefit from comparing their work with curated examples showcasing the best scientific design practices. To reinforce the theoretical aspects of the courses, students receive a printed manual that summarizes key concepts and design principles, ensuring they have a valuable reference for their work.
