Scientific Artwork & Infographics (Adobe Illustrator)
This course builds on your knowledge of Adobe Illustrator to help you create professional, impactful scientific visuals and infographics. Beyond the basics, you’ll learn the core principles of effective design, including the power of color, typography, and composition, that make visuals truly compelling. By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Draw clear, effective icons and build well-structured infographics.
Design clear scientific artwork.
Apply the principles of good design (color, typography, composition) to guide your audience through a clear visual journey.
Produce professional-quality figures, graphical abstracts, and posters for your research, making your work more impactful and memorable.
Scientific Publications & Layout (InDesign)
In this course, you will master Adobe InDesign to create professional and functional layouts for all your design needs. Through a deep dive into the program’s tools and custom exercises, you will learn to create everything from a complex thesis book to a striking poster or professional CV. You will also discover how to seamlessly integrate photos, illustrations, tables, and text. By the end, you will be able to:
Layout different documents, including single-page designs like figures, posters, and CVs.
Create templates using parent pages and styles, which are essential for building complex documents like a dissertation.
Prepare documents for print, including understanding the differences between print (CMYK) and screen (RGB) colors.
Export various file types like JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and PDF.
Master the printing process to make the best choices for your projects.

I’m excited to announce a new, advanced course coming in September 2025 specifically for experienced scientists who want to elevate their visual communication. This interactive online workshop is perfect for those who have a solid understanding of Adobe Illustrator. If you’ve mastered the fundamentals and are now eager to refine your infographics, I’ll guide you with real-time feedback on your projects. You’ll also learn from your peers as they approach and solve design challenges, which will inspire new solutions for your own work.
